Landfall

decks reward you each time a land enters the battlefield for you, then find ways to play extra lands. You can normally play only one land a turn, so cards that let you play more, or pull lands out of your deck, make everything happen more often.

An archetype is a whole game plan: the way a deck tries to win.

How it plays

Playing a land is something you do every turn anyway, so you play cards that reward you each time one enters the battlefield: a made, a creature grown, a card drawn. Then you find ways to play extra lands each turn, or return lands to your hand and play them again.

How it wins

By doing the thing everyone does, more often. Three lands a turn with four cards on the table makes a big creature, a and a drawn card every turn, and the mana to use them all.

What beats it

Removing the creatures that reward you leaves you with a lot of lands and nothing to do with them. Cards that stop extra land plays, or destroy lands, hit this deck hardest.

If this is your first deck

A good first deck. Lands are the easiest cards to understand, and the deck plays out in a straight line.
