Legends Matter
Legends decks fill up on legendary cards and use cards that reward you each time you one. A card has the word Legendary on its type line; you can only keep one with the same name in play, and nearly every is legendary.

An archetype is a whole game plan: the way a deck tries to win.
How it plays
You fill the deck with cards and play cards that reward you each time you one: a card drawn, a made, a cost reduced. Nearly every is legendary, so the commander is the first reward of many.
How it wins
With a board of creatures, each one strong on its own and stronger with the rewards, and with cards that count how many legends you control.
What beats it
on the legend that ties your deck together, and a , which hits legends like any other creature. The legend rule also means you can never keep two of the same legend on the battlefield, so a second copy in your hand is best held until the first one is gone.
If this is your first deck
A second deck. cards are usually a little more complex than ordinary ones, so a tribe of them is a lot of text to learn.

Your commander starts the game in the command zone instead of in your deck, and you can cast it from there. If it leaves the battlefield you can send it back and cast it again, paying 2 more mana each extra time. It is usually a legendary creature; a few other cards say they can be your commander.
