Ajani, Mentor of Heroes
If one or more, but not all, of the targets of the first ability are illegal when that ability tries to resolve, no counters will be placed on illegal targets. You can't change the distribution you announced when you activated the ability; the excess counters are just lost.
You announce how many counters will be placed on each target creature as you activate Ajani's first ability. Each target must receive at least one counter.
Angrath, the Flame-Chained
Angrath’s first ability causes each opponent to lose 2 life even if some or all of those players were unable to discard a card.
Whether the target creature has mana value 3 or less is checked only as the delayed triggered ability from Angrath’s second ability resolves during the end step.
In a Two-Headed Giant game, Angrath’s first ability causes the opposing team to lose 4 life, and each player on that team discards a card. His last ability causes the opposing team to lose life equal to the number of cards in both graveyards.
You can target and gain control of an untapped creature with Angrath’s second ability. You can also untap a creature you already control and give it haste.
Ashiok, Dream Render
Spells and abilities your opponents control may cause other players to search their libraries, and spells and abilities you control may cause your opponents to search their libraries.
If an effect says “You may search your library . . . If you do, shuffle your library” or “You may search your library . . . then shuffle your library,” your opponents can’t choose to search, so they won’t shuffle.
Effects that instruct your opponents to reveal or look at cards from the top of their libraries will still work. Only effects that use the word “search” are affected.
If Ashiok’s last ability targets an opponent, the cards put into their graveyard will be among the cards exiled by the ability. No player may take any actions between the time the cards are put into a graveyard and the time your opponents’ graveyards are all exiled.
If an effect says “Search your library . . . then shuffle your library,” your opponents shuffle their libraries even though they can’t search.
Sorin, Grim Nemesis
In a Two-Headed Giant game, the highest life total among all players is the highest life total among all teams.
If a card in your library has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.
Tamiyo, the Moon Sage
The ability can target a tapped permanent. If the targeted permanent is already tapped when it resolves, that permanent just remains tapped and doesn’t untap during its controller’s next untap step.
Tamiyo’s third ability creates one emblem with two abilities.
Tamiyo’s first ability tracks the permanent, but not its controller. If the permanent changes controllers before its first controller’s next untap step has come around, then it won’t untap during its new controller’s next untap step.
The number of tapped creatures the player controls is determined when Tamiyo’s second ability resolves.
If you activate Tamiyo’s third ability when she has eight loyalty counters on her, she’ll be put into your graveyard before the emblem is created. She won’t return to your hand.
Cards that are put into your graveyard can be returned to your hand by the emblem’s ability even if they were never in your hand.
