Saheeli, the Gifted

Legendary Planeswalker — Saheeli

Saheeli wants a deck that fills the table with artifacts that make mana and draw cards. It leads the ready-made Exquisite Invention deck (2018).

+1: Create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature token.

+1: The next spell you cast this turn has affinity for artifacts. (It costs 1 generic less to cast for each artifact you control as you cast it.)

−7: For each artifact you control, create a token that's a copy of it. Those tokens gain haste. Exile those tokens at the beginning of the next end step.

Saheeli, the Gifted can be your commander.

Cards That Fit Saheeli, the Gifted

Picked for what they do in Saheeli's deck. When two cards do the same job, the one with the lower comes first. All of them fit Saheeli's color identity.Mana ValueThe total amount of mana a card costs, all added up. A card costing two generic and one green has a mana value of three. Wizards renamed this from "converted mana cost" in 2021, so older cards and articles may still use the old name.Sol RingOpen the full glossary

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

Any enters-the-battlefield abilities of a copied artifact will trigger when the token enters the battlefield. Any "as [this artifact] enters the battlefield" or "[this artifact] enters the battlefield with" abilities of the artifact will also work.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

If a copied artifact has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

If a copied artifact is a token, the token that's created copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that created the token.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

If a copied artifact is copying something else (for example, if the copied artifact is a Sculpting Steel), then the token enters the battlefield as whatever that artifact copied.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

Saheeli's second ability reduces only generic mana in the cost of the next spell you cast.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

The total cost to cast a spell is locked in before you pay that cost. For example, if you control three artifacts, including one you can sacrifice to add {C}, Saheeli's second ability will reduce the cost of a spell you cast by {3}. Then you can sacrifice the artifact when you activate mana abilities just before paying the cost, and it remains reduced by {3}.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions (such as that of Saheeli's second ability). The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

While resolving Saheeli's third ability, each token copies exactly what was printed on the original artifact and nothing else (unless that artifact is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn't copy whether that artifact is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its types, color, or so on.

Color identityEvery color of mana symbol on a card, in its cost and in its rules text. Your commander's color identity sets the limit for your whole deck: every other card has to fit inside it. A deck led by a green and white commander cannot play a card with any blue in its color identity.Open the full glossaryURPlayers write colors as letters: U for blue, R for red. Blue is U because B was already taken by black.ArtifactsAn artifacts deck fills the battlefield with artifacts, cards like Sol Ring that stay in play and keep working turn after turn. Played together, they give you extra mana and extra cards. A handful of keywords turn up on artifacts again and again. Equip means you pay a cost to attach an Equipment such as Swiftfoot Boots to one of your creatures. If that creature dies, the Equipment does not go to your graveyard with it. It stays on the battlefield, and you can pay the cost again to attach it to another creature. Crew means you tap your own creatures with enough total power between them to turn a Vehicle such as Smuggler's Copter into a creature until the end of the turn. A Treasure is a token you can sacrifice (put into your graveyard on purpose) for one mana of any color. A token is a game piece that a card makes, not a card from your deck, and Pitiless Plunderer is one card that makes Treasures.
