15 rulings for 5 cards

Dragonlord Kolaghan

Wizards of the Coast 25 Feb 2015

Casting a spell face down won’t cause Dragonlord Kolaghan’s last ability to trigger. A spell with no name can’t have the same name as any other card.

Wizards of the Coast 25 Feb 2015

If an opponent casts a creature spell with delve and exiles all cards from their graveyard with the same name to help pay its cost, Dragonlord Kolaghan’s ability won’t trigger.

Higure, the Still Wind

Wizards of the Coast 1 Feb 2005

If Higure deals regular combat damage and you use its ability to search for another Ninja, that card won't be in your hand in time to activate its ninjutsu ability to put it onto the battlefield and deal damage. However, the card you searched for could still be swapped for an unblocked creature, including Higure, as long as you activate its ninjutsu ability before the end of combat.

Wizards of the Coast 1 Feb 2005

If Higure deals first strike damage (or the first part of double strike damage), the triggered ability would resolve before regular combat damage, and the searched-for Ninja would be able to get swapped with an unblocked creature and still deal its regular damage.

Mina and Denn, Wildborn

Wizards of the Coast 22 Jan 2016

Once you announce that you’re activating the last ability, it’s too late for anyone to interrupt you by trying to remove the land you returned.

Nezahal, Primal Tide

Wizards of the Coast 19 Jan 2018

Your maximum hand size is checked only during the cleanup step on your turn. If Nezahal's last ability is activated before your turn's end step, it will return before your next cleanup step and you'll have no maximum hand size.

Wizards of the Coast 19 Jan 2018

Nezahal's triggered ability resolves before the noncreature spell that caused it to trigger.

Wizards of the Coast 19 Jan 2018

After Nezahal returns to the battlefield, it will be a new object with no connection to the creature that was exiled. It won't be in combat or have any additional abilities it may have had when it was exiled. Any +1/+1 counters on it or Auras attached to it are removed, and any Equipment will no longer be attached.

Wizards of the Coast 19 Jan 2018

Players can cast spells and activate abilities after Nezahal's triggered ability resolves but before the spell that caused it to trigger does. Notably, the card you draw may be able to counter that spell or may be discarded to activate Nezahal's last ability.

Xantcha, Sleeper Agent

Wizards of the Coast 23 Aug 2019

In a multiplayer game, if Xantcha's owner leaves the game, Xantcha leaves the game with them. If Xantcha's controller leaves the game, Xantcha is exiled. This is a change from previous rulings due to Xantcha's updated wording.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

The player who draws a card when Xantcha's last ability resolves is the player who activated the ability.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

If a player creates a token that's a copy of Xantcha, the player who creates the token is its owner, not the player under whose control it enters the battlefield. This is a change from previous rules.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

Xantcha's first ability is a replacement effect that modifies how it enters the battlefield, not a triggered ability. Players can't take actions (such as activating its last ability) while Xantcha's on the battlefield before it's controlled by another player.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

Xantcha's controller may activate its last ability. In this case, the same player loses 2 life and draws a card.

Wizards of the Coast 13 Jul 2018

If Xantcha can't attack for any reason (such as being tapped or having come under that player's control that turn), then it doesn't attack. If there's a cost associated with having it attack, the player isn't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to attack in that case either.

Also Printed in Other Drops

Some of these cards came in other Secret Lair drops too, each with its own art.
